My name is Richard Clark and I’ll be your professor for Psy 249 AKA The Psychology of Personality. This website will serve as a central hub for course related materials. Most of the course information including access to the textbook, supplementary resources, slides and more will be housed here. However, we will still be using Blackboard for assignments and grading. Feel free to take a look around the site and email me (r.connorclark@gmail.com) if you have any questions!
Course Overview
This is an OER-based Zero-cost course designed to give students the chance to think critically about personality and its development on an individual as well as social and societal levels. Throughout the course we will explore the many topics, issues, findings, and theories surrounding Personality. From theories on how and why personality develops to discussion on how or if it can be accurately assessed. We will dive into the leading scientific theories about personality and its development from folks like Carl Jung and Lew Goldberg as well as briefly discuss some that are less scientific but prevalent in popular culture such as Astrological Signs and Auras. We will explore these topics by utilizing a OER textbook “The Balance of Personality” by Chris Allen and by accessing many other outside sources. Ultimately students should walk away with a deeply nuanced understanding of the psychology of personality and how personality influences our everyday lives.
